Death of Shepherd: 73-Year-Old Suffered Heart Attack – 'Didn't Make it to Hospital'

A 73-year-old shepherd died of a heart attack while in a livestock area, without being able to reach the hospital. The Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou, in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, is taking measures to address the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, increasing the length of the footbath tanks, placing warning signs and preparing for animal vaccinations. The Municipality has already increased the length of the footbath tanks to 9 meters and has ordered warning signs for the livestock areas. At the same time, it has informed the farmers about the biosecurity measures and is awaiting the start of vaccinations. It has also provided psychological support services for the farmers. Regarding the death of the 73-year-old, there is no information about a possible connection with the drugs used for spraying, as they meet EU safety standards. The case is being investigated by the competent authorities.
