Investigation Ordered into 92-Year-Old's Death at Larnaca Hospital

The Cyprus Public Health Insurance Organisation (OKYPY) has ordered an immediate investigation into a new complaint regarding the death of a 92-year-old patient at Larnaca General Hospital. The patient's family accuses the hospital of inadequate care and disorganisation, claiming the death was caused by medical errors and delays. According to the complaint, the patient remained in the Emergency Department for hours after a mild stroke before being transferred to a clinic without sufficient medical monitoring. The family reports that the patient was given food despite being unable to swallow, leading to aspiration and a deterioration of his condition. Despite attempts to insert a nasogastric tube, the patient's condition worsened, and he eventually passed away. OKYPY states that it has not yet received a formal written complaint but is proceeding with an investigation into the incident.
