US to Halt Collection of Tariffs Deemed Illegal 'Immediately'

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced it will halt the collection of tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) following a Supreme Court decision that invalidated them. The halt will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, at 07:01 Cyprus time. Simultaneously, Donald Trump has imposed new 15% tariffs on a different legal basis. CBP has not explained why it continued to collect the tariffs after the court's decision, nor has it clarified whether refunds will be issued to importers. Other tariffs imposed by Trump, such as those related to national security, are unaffected.
