Και οι πέντε νεκροί ήταν στο βαν, δήλωσε ο ιατροδικαστής της κομητείας Στόουν, Γουέιν Φλούρι. Η μόνη επιζήσασα επιβάτης του βαν, μια 23χρονη γυναίκα, μεταφέρθηκε αεροπορικώς σε νοσοκομείο.
Δεν αναφέρθηκε τραυματισμός σε κανέναν από τους επιβαίνοντες του τρένου.
Το δυστύχημα σημειώθηκε όταν ένα εμπορικό τρένο Canadian Pacific Kansas City συγκρούστηκε με ένα όχημα σε διάβαση. Το σημείο ήταν κοντά στην πόλη Wiggins, περίπου 72 χιλιόμετρα βορειοδυτικά του Biloxi.

USA: Five Dead in Train-Vehicle Collision at Crossing
Five people were killed and one woman was seriously injured when a freight train collided with a van at a crossing in Mississippi. All the deceased were in the van, while no injuries were reported among the train passengers. The accident occurred near the town of Wiggins, approximately 72 kilometers northwest of Biloxi. Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway company expressed its condolences to the victims' families. The Stone County coroner, Wayne Flurry, confirmed that all five fatalities were occupants of the van. The 23-year-old survivor was airlifted to a hospital for further medical care. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the collision, in order to determine the exact cause of the accident.
