UAE: Fire at Oil Infrastructure in Fujairah After Drone Interception

A fire broke out at oil facilities in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, after the interception of a drone. According to journalistic sources, thick black smoke is rising above the facilities, which host critical export terminals and fuel storage tanks. The fire has caused a temporary disruption of oil loading operations. The authorities of Fujairah announced that the fire was caused by falling debris after the successful interception of the drone, while assuring that there were no injuries. Strong forces of civil protection are operating at the scene to fully contain the fire. The incident comes shortly after threats from Tehran, which described the ports of the Emirates as legitimate military targets. In a statement broadcast on Iranian state television, the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Staff Command warned that it would strike any infrastructure hosting US military interests, as part of the broader conflict in the region. Tehran is calling on citizens to evacuate the specific areas, claiming the right to defend its sovereignty.
