Haralambidou Hands Over Chairmanship of Human Rights Committee

MP Irene Charalambidou, who was recently removed from the AKEL Parliamentary Group, announced on Monday that she is handing over the Chairmanship of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights to Giorgos Koukoumas, a member of AKEL and until now Deputy Chairman of the Committee. Ms. Charalambidou, will continue to participate in the Committee, as well as in other Committees of which she is a member. Ms. Charalambidou expressed her satisfaction with the excellent cooperation she had with the members of the Committee and thanked Mr. Koukoumas for their collaboration. She noted that she will make decisions about her next steps in politics in due course. Due to the limited time remaining until the end of her term, she will remain on the Committees she already knows and monitors. Ms. Charalambidou considers her greatest achievement to be the functioning of the Committee for all MPs, without partisan blinders. The members of the Committee thanked Ms. Charalambidou for their cooperation.
