Tehran Has Little to Offer Trump in Potential Negotiations

Tehran is showing a willingness to negotiate with Washington, not due to a change in strategy, but due to the pressure it is facing both domestically (protests) and externally (threats from Trump). Donald Trump has announced “strong actions” in response to the suppression of protests in Iran, and Tehran is seeking to prevent them. However, analysts point out that Iran has little substantive to offer, as it is unwilling to abandon its strategic tools (nuclear program, ballistic missiles, support for radical organizations). Therefore, any agreement would be unilaterally favorable to Iran, allowing it to avoid the consequences of repression and maintain its regional threat.
