Turkish F-16s Arrive in Occupied Cyprus

Turkish F-16 fighter jets arrived in occupied Cyprus on Monday morning, March 9th, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense. Ankara announced the deployment of six aircraft, along with air defense systems, and indicated that additional measures may be taken if deemed necessary. This move comes during a period of heightened tension in the region, as French President Emmanuel Macron and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis are expected to visit Cyprus to meet with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. The two leaders will also jointly visit the “Andreas Papandreou” airbase.
