Slovenia Sends Reinforcements to Greenland…Two People

Denmark is strengthening its military presence in Greenland, responding to the intentions of the United States under Donald Trump. The Danish Arctic Command announced the deployment of special forces (Jägerkorpset) to the Blosseville coast, aiming to enhance its presence in the Arctic. Simultaneously, the frigate Peter Willemoes is participating in the Arctic Endurance military exercise, alongside frigates from other European countries, including the French Bretagne. This deployment comes just days after Trump's announcement regarding the potential acquisition of Greenland. Eight European countries had already sent military personnel to the island to prepare for the Arctic Endurance exercise, while Slovenia announced the dispatch of two officers. Trump accused the European countries of playing a “very dangerous game” and threatened additional tariffs. France justifies the deployment of the Bretagne frigate as a “tactical contribution to the security of common maritime areas and the northern flank of NATO.”
