Russia Killed Navalny with Frog Poison, Says UK

The UK Foreign Office accuses the Russian state of the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. According to the UK Foreign Office, his death was the result of poisoning with frog toxin (epibatidine). Navalny's widow, Yulia Navalnaya, announced the finding at a press conference at the Munich Security Conference, attended by Foreign Ministers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. The UK and its allies state that the use of a neurotoxin, which is classified as a chemical weapon, could only have been carried out by the Vladimir Putin government. Navalny was held in prison in the Arctic Circle when he died, having been sentenced to decades in prison. Navalny's allies have repeatedly accused the Kremlin of his death – accusations that Moscow has dismissed. The epibatidine toxin is extracted from the skin of a poisonous Ecuadorian frog and is 200 times more potent than morphine, causing numbness and paralysis. Russian authorities insist that Navalny died of cardiac arrhythmia caused by hypertension.
