New Leadership of SEK

The 30th Pan-Cypriot Congress of SEK has concluded, with the re-election of the leadership for the next four years. Andreas F. Matsas was re-elected as General Secretary, while Panikos Argyrides was elected as Deputy General Secretary. Yannis Tsouris took over as General Organizer and Savvas Koulas was re-elected as General Treasurer. Charalambos Avgousti takes over as Secretary of International and Public Relations. Andreas F. Matsas, in his speech to the delegates, pledged to continue fighting for the rights of workers with consistency and method. The delegates approved the new policy document of SEK, which will determine the interventions and demands of the Movement for the next four years. The SEK's policy document emphasizes the resolution of the Cyprus issue based on UN resolutions and the European acquis, the strengthening of collective bargaining, the reform of the pension system, a balanced policy on the employment of foreign workers, and the upgrading of social welfare. SEK prioritizes the need to address price increases, strengthen low- and middle-income earners, and protect dignity in the workplace, with zero tolerance for harassment and discrimination.
