Cyprus is a Safe Destination, Assures Finance Minister from Brussels

The Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, assured from Brussels that Cyprus is a safe destination, while he will preside over the ECOFIN Council. He noted that ministers will discuss the impact of the war in the Middle East on the international and European economy. He emphasized that life in Cyprus continues normally and safely, despite its geographical location in the wider region of hostilities. He expressed his gratitude for the prompt response of the European Union regarding the protection of citizens, and particularly to Greece, France, Italy and Spain. Referring to the possible support of the EU to the countries most affected by the war, he noted that the discussion focuses on addressing the negative impacts, taking into account the principle of proportionality. The Minister of Finance stressed that Cyprus remains open for flights and that the situation is being closely monitored. His statement was made before the start of the ECOFIN session, where measures to mitigate the economic impact of the war are expected to be discussed.
