ENI Launches New Energy Chapter in Libya

Italian energy company ENI has announced the commencement of operations at the Bahr Essalam field in Libya by the end of the first quarter of the year. The field, an offshore natural gas field, is connected to Italy via existing infrastructure and is expected to meet Libyan needs while creating a surplus for export to Europe. Production will reach 100 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, with a second project adding another 100-120 million cubic meters per day, reaching a total of 800 million cubic meters per day. ENI has a total of seven projects under development in Libya, with two to be delivered within the year and another by the end of 2027. This indicates a significant investment and commitment by the company to the country's energy development. The company seeks to exploit both existing fields and associated gases, significantly increasing its production capacity. Libya's National Oil Company has announced investments of $2 billion to upgrade the country's energy infrastructure, including pipelines and critical facilities. The goal is to improve production quality and attract new foreign investment, thereby strengthening the Libyan economy. The resumption of energy cooperation between Italy and Libya, through ENI, marks a new phase in the region's energy policy, with potential implications for Europe's energy security and Libya's economic stability. This investment is expected to contribute to increased natural gas production and meet growing energy demand.
