Europe Cannot Remain Silent

Europe is at a critical juncture where power seems to outweigh international law and legitimacy. Cyprus, with its decades-long experience of international law violations, is a stark example of the need for a stronger European response. The new global balance of power is being shaped by the United States, Russia, and China, which impose their interests through military, economic, and political means. The European Union lags behind in strategic cohesion, defense capabilities, and political will, risking becoming an object rather than a subject of history. EU strategic autonomy is not merely an idea, but a necessity for its survival in an increasingly harsh world. Its weakness is due to chronic self-deception and a lack of decisiveness. Economic power and regulatory influence are not enough without deterrent force and a common strategy. In a world of revisionism, neutrality and silence are dangerous. Europe must mature geopolitically and take responsibility, otherwise it will pay the price of inaction.
