EU Receives First Fuel Shipment from India After Russia Sanctions

The European Union has received its first fuel shipment from India following the implementation of new sanctions against Russia. The tanker Proteus Bohemia, carrying approximately 100,000 tons of diesel, arrived at the port of Rotterdam. The arrival of the shipment is seen as a sign of confidence that the imports comply with the new regulatory framework, which aims to prevent Russian hydrocarbons from entering through third countries. Reliance Industries, which chartered the vessel, assures that its products have been sourced from non-Russian crude since November 20, 2025. The EU sanctions require increased scrutiny of shipments from countries like India, Turkey, and China due to their imports of Russian crude.
