E. Charalambidou Hands Over Presidency of Human Rights Committee

MP Irene Charalambidou, after being expelled from the AKEL Parliamentary Group, announced that she is handing over the Presidency of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights to Giorgos Koukoumas, who was until now Deputy President. Ms. Charalambidou will continue to participate in the Committee, as well as in other Committees of which she is a member. Ms. Charalambidou stressed the excellent cooperation she had with the members of the Committee, above party lines, with the aim of defending human rights. She expressed her satisfaction with the unity that prevailed in the Committee and thanked Mr. Koukoumas in particular for their collaboration. Regarding her next steps, Ms. Charalambidou stated that she will make decisions in due course and will make announcements. Due to the rules of the House, she will continue to participate in the Committees on Human Rights, Institutions, Control, Education and Environment. Ms. Charalambidou considers her greatest achievement to be the functioning of the Committee for all MPs, without party bias. The members of the Committee thanked Ms. Charalambidou for her cooperation and expressed their satisfaction with the promotion of issues through the Committee.
