Germany Welcomes EU-India Trade Deal

Germany welcomed the conclusion of the EU-India trade agreement, expressing confidence that it will lead to growth and job creation. German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil described the agreement as a 'new page' in EU trade policy, emphasizing that it strengthens Europe against competition from China and the United States. The German automotive industry, through the VDA, also expressed its satisfaction, as the agreement provides for the reduction of Indian tariffs on 'made in Europe' cars from 110% to 10%. The VDA stressed the importance of exports to the German economy and called for the rapid ratification of the agreement.
