Supreme Court Decision Regarding Syka - Details of the Alleged Assault Complaint

The Supreme Court of Cyprus has lifted the parliamentary immunity of Nikos Syka, following a request from the Attorney General, in order to conduct a criminal investigation regarding allegations of assault. The complaint concerns an incident allegedly occurred in Greece on New Year's Eve, with the complainant claiming to have suffered physical and psychological violence from the MP. The Supreme Court's decision was based on sworn statements, medical reports, and photographic evidence. Despite the complainant withdrawing the complaint due to psychological pressure, the court ruled that there was sufficient evidence to investigate four offenses: exercising violence, psychological violence, assault causing bodily harm, and threats.
