MEP Fidias Panagiotou released a video apology for his reference to “pellous,” three days after the scandal erupted. In the video, Mr. Panagiotou appears self-critical and makes hints about political expediency. Vicky Triga, Deputy Professor and Dean of the School of Communication and Media Studies at TEPAK, described the video as “skillfully made,” noting that the MEP’s intentions remain unclear. Ms. Triga stated that Mr. Panagiotou presents himself as a victim, with a “purity” rarely seen in the Cypriot political scene. She also highlighted the importance of modern communication between politicians and citizens through social media.
