Greek Flag Raising on the Acropolis for March 25th

March 25th, the anniversary of the start of the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the Feast of the Annunciation, was celebrated today with a series of events in Athens. The events began with the raising of the Greek flag on the Acropolis and the playing of the national anthem, followed by 21 cannon shots at Lycabettus Hill. Key moments included the doxology at the Cathedral of the Annunciation, the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the grand military parade. The day concluded with the lowering of the flag on the Acropolis and additional salute cannon shots. Simultaneously, parades, flag decorations, and illuminations took place throughout Greece.
