EU Commissioner Expresses Optimism for Cyprus' Schengen Inclusion

European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, expressed optimism regarding Cyprus' inclusion in the Schengen area during a press conference in Nicosia. He acknowledged that the Green Line poses a challenge but stated his confidence in finding a solution. He emphasized that the European Commission fully supports Cyprus' accession, which will benefit both the island and the entire Schengen zone. Mr. Brunner also referred to significant developments in migrant returns to Syria, with over three million Syrians already having returned and Frontex support for voluntary returns. The EU has spent approximately 620 million euros on Syria for the years 2026 and 2027.
