Problems with Olympic Medals Continue – Issues at Milan-Cortina Games Following Paris Concerns

Athletes participating in the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games have reported problems with their Olympic medals. Damage and detachment of ribbons were reported shortly after the award ceremonies. A US athlete, Liu, posted a video on social media showing that the ribbon of her gold medal had come off, and the German biathlon team also faced a similar issue with their bronze medal. The Games organizers have launched an investigation to identify the cause of the problem. They recognize the importance of the perfect condition of the medals during the award ceremony. The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee expects the organizers to resolve the issue, with no confirmation yet on whether damaged medals will be replaced. This is not the first incident with problems with Olympic medals. At the Paris Olympic Games, several athletes had complained about damage to their medals, resulting in 220 requests for replacement due to deterioration. The organizers had committed to replacing the damaged medals.
