Erdogan: Turkey Making 'Intense' Efforts to End Middle East War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey is making “intense” diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East, which was triggered by the Israeli-American strikes on Iran. He emphasized that the attacks on Iran and the retaliatory missile and drone attacks have fueled instability in the region. Erdogan stated that Turkey is seeking to resolve the issues through peaceful diplomacy and negotiations. This statement follows a series of diplomatic meetings held by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan with international officials. Fidan met with the US envoy for Syria, Tom Barack, as well as his British counterpart, Ivette Cooper, to discuss the current security situation and potential diplomatic initiatives to end hostilities. He also held talks with the Prime Minister of Qatar, the Greek Foreign Minister, and the President of Iraqi Kurdistan. Turkey, as a member of NATO, maintains relations with both sides of the conflict, however, its relations with Israel have deteriorated due to the war in Gaza.
