Seven Deaths from Flu, Meeting at Ministry of Health over Hospital Pressure

In Cyprus, seven deaths have been recorded from the flu since the start of the epidemic season, primarily among elderly individuals with underlying health conditions. A total of 98 people have required hospitalization, with most cases occurring in state hospitals. The Ministry of Health held an emergency meeting with representatives from the OKYPY, OAY, and private hospitals, aiming to better coordinate efforts to address the surge in seasonal infections and manage the increased pressure on hospitals. The health system is considered adequately prepared, with a focus on vaccination. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Health is urging citizens, especially vulnerable groups, to adhere to basic personal protection measures, such as good hygiene and wearing masks in enclosed spaces.
