Scientists Create 'Super' Antibiotic from Vinegar to Combat Resistant Bacteria

Scientists from Norway and Australia have discovered a new way to enhance the antibacterial action of vinegar by combining it with carbon and cobalt nanoparticles. This new mixture has proven to be many times more potent against bacteria resistant to antibiotics, without being toxic to human cells. The research, published in ACS Nano, shows that the acidic environment of vinegar helps the nanoparticles penetrate and destroy bacteria. Experiments demonstrated successful elimination of bacterial infections in mice, without affecting wound healing.
