Japan to Invest $36 Billion in US Energy and Mineral Projects

Japan has committed to invest $36 billion in oil, natural gas, and critical mineral projects in the US, specifically in Texas, Ohio, and Georgia. This commitment is part of a broader agreement for $550 billion in investments. The largest investment concerns a $33 billion natural gas facility in Ohio, while funding for a $2.1 billion deepwater crude oil export facility in Texas is also included. Additionally, approximately $600 million will be invested in a synthetic diamond production facility in Georgia. The agreement was welcomed by Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takai as a strengthening of economic cooperation and security between the two countries.
