Oncology Center of Bank of Cyprus Expands with Need for Additional Support

The Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center is expanding with new operating rooms and state-of-the-art equipment, including a PET/CT machine worth €4.5 million donated by an anonymous Cypriot. The center's administration has warned the House Finance Committee that further financial support from the state will be needed to implement the projects and cover the increased needs of patients. A key problem is the way the center is compensated by the GHS, as the existing criteria do not take into account its specialized nature. Discussions are underway with the HIO to create legislative regulation that will recognize the differentiation of specialized medical centers. The creation of three new operating rooms will allow the center to provide comprehensive care to patients.
