Data Commissioner: Why the Operation of “Agoras” by Feidias is Being Asked to be Frozen

The Data Protection Commissioner, Maria Christofidou, confirmed that the Authority has requested a temporary suspension of the operation of the Agora application by Feidias Panagiotou until the evaluation is completed. The Authority had informed Mr. Panagiotou since October about his obligations regarding data protection. The request is based on the fact that the application processes special categories of data, such as political beliefs, on a large scale, requiring a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) before processing. The Commissioner stressed that the Authority is independent and operates to protect citizens' rights. If there is no compliance, the Authority may impose sanctions, such as recommendations, reprimands, or administrative fines.
