No Foreclosures in Refugee Settlements, Self-Housing Issue Pending

Following advice from the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees, no foreclosures have proceeded in refugee settlements. However, the issue of housing in self-housing settlements remains pending. According to Committee President Nikos Kettiros, 14 cases are with credit acquisition companies and 320 with KEDIPES. Over 500 applications have been approved for the rent-for-installment scheme, with another 1000 under consideration. MP Rita Theodorou Supermann emphasized the need to clarify that care concerns all refugees and to prevent policies that push them towards compensation in the occupied territories. The Committee calls on those affected to contact credit acquisition companies and state that their residence is in a self-housing refugee settlement.
