Today's Feast Day: Commemoration of St. John Chrysostom and International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, January 27th, the Church commemorates the Translation of the Holy Relics of St. John Chrysostom. St. John Chrysostom, one of the most important Fathers of the Church, died of exhaustion in 407 AD during his exile. The names celebrated today are Chrysostomos and its derivatives. The translation of the Saint's relics took place in 438 AD and their transfer to Constantinople was accompanied by miracles and magnificent ceremonies. In addition to the religious feast, January 27th has been established as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day to honor the memory of the millions of people who lost their lives during the Holocaust and to commit to preventing similar tragedies in the future.
