Enhanced Control for New Building Installations – Crucial Role for the Technical Chamber

Controls on electromechanical installations in new buildings are being strengthened with the introduction of mandatory supervision of works. The relevant legislation is proceeding to the Plenary Session of the Parliament for voting, following discussion in the Interior Committee. The Committee Chairman, Aristos Damianou, described the development as significant, as it aligns Cyprus with European law and enhances the safety and efficiency of installations. The President of ETEK, Konstantinos Konstantinou, emphasized that a 20-year legislative gap is being corrected with the institutionalization of mandatory supervision by architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers. It was underlined that the control will reduce costs in the long run, through proper study and supervision of projects.
