Community Councils Informed by Veterinary Services Regarding Foot-and-Mouth Disease

Veterinary Services are on high alert in the Paphos district due to the risk of foot-and-mouth disease. Officials from relevant departments have informed Community Councils about the measures being taken to prevent the spread of the disease, which include the creation of disinfection infrastructure, strict controls and the closure of side roads leading to livestock areas. Financial assistance will be provided to the Community Councils immediately. Controls will be easier in large livestock zones, while the same measures will be applied to individual facilities. In the Paphos district, the majority of livestock farmers are engaged in goat and sheep farming, while cattle units exist in specific areas.
