Εναρκτήρια Παρουσίαση Ερευνητικού Έργου Global Civilization Initiative: From Embracing Diversity to Sharing Similarities

Πραγματοποιήθηκε η εναρκτήρια παρουσίαση του ερευνητικού έργου «Global Civilization Initiative: From Embracing Diversity to Sharing Similarities» στο Κέντρο Κινεζικών Μελετών, το οποίο έχει ιδρυθεί από κοινού από το Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και την Κινεζική Ακαδημία Κοινωνικών Επιστημών.
Το ερευνητικό έργο συντονίζεται από το Ινστιτούτο Ερευνών Προμηθέας, σε συνεργασία με ομάδα πανεπιστημιακών. Εκ μέρους του Ινστιτούτου Ερευνών Προμηθέας για το έργο μίλησε ο Πρόεδρος του Επιστημονικού Συμβουλίου, Καθηγητής Κώστας Γουλιάμος, ο οποίος, μεταξύ άλλων, ανέφερε:
«Ζούμε σε μια ιστορική περίοδο βίαιων μετασχηματισμών σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο, ως αποτέλεσμα της κεφαλαιοκρατικής έκτασης και των αντιφάσεων που αυτή δημιουργεί. Ταυτόχρονα διατυπώνονται θεωρίες και θέσεις που κατασκευάζουν μια ιεραρχία πολιτισμών μόνιμης ανταγωνιστικής σχέσης ή που αποτελούν πηγή σύγκρουσης. Επιπλέον, λειτουργούν ως εργαλείο για τη δικαιολόγηση της ηγεμονίας και των επεμβάσεων. Τελικά, αυτές οι θέσεις εκκολάπτουν κι` εμπεδώνουν είτε την ξενοφοβία και τον ρατσισμό, είτε την αναδιατύπωση ενός ψυχροπολεμικού κλίματος. Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, ο διαπολιτισμικός διάλογος σπανίως προωθείται ως μέσο αμοιβαίας κατανόησης.
Η Παγκόσμια Πρωτοβουλία Πολιτισμών (Global Civilization Initiative) της Κίνας προσφέρει ένα σχήμα διαλόγου για επιστημονική διερεύνηση, μελέτη και ανάλυση. Ως εκ τούτου, το παρόν ερευνητικό εγχείρημα δεν επιδιώκει να εξιδανικεύσει ούτε να απλουστεύσει τις παγκόσμιες πραγματικότητες. Αντιθέτως, στοχεύει να εξετάσει —με κριτικό, συγκριτικό και διεπιστημονικό τρόπο— τις θεωρητικές, πολιτισμικές και πρακτικές διαστάσεις της εν λόγω πρωτοβουλίας».
Ολοκληρώνοντας την παρέμβαση του ο κ. Γουλιάμος σημείωσε:
«Το έργο αυτό αφορά, σε τελική ανάλυση, στη δημιουργία δικτύων γνώσης που δεν αναπαράγουν παλαιές διαιρέσεις, αλλά ενισχύουν συνέργειες που αναδεικνύουν σύνθετα ζητήματα του πολιτισμού, άμεσα δεμένα με την οικονομία, την αισθητική, την κοινωνία, τις τέχνες και τα γράμματα».
Το ερευνητικό έργο είναι διαθεματικού και διεπιστημονικού χαρακτήρα και σε αυτό συμμετέχουν περισσότεροι από είκοσι επιστήμονες και ερευνητές από ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα έξι χωρών.

The inaugural presentation of the research project “Global Civilization Initiative: From Embracing Diversity to Sharing Similarities” was held at the Center for Chinese Studies, jointly established by the European University Cyprus and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
The research project is coordinated by the Promitheas Research Institute, in collaboration with a team of academics. Speaking on behalf of the Promitheas Research Institute, the President of the Scientific Council, Professor Kostas Gouliamos, stated, among other things:
«We are living in a historical period marked by intense global transformations, resulting from the expansion of capitalism and the contradictions it generates. At the same time, theories and positions continue to emerge that construct hierarchies of civilizations locked into permanent relations of competition or conflict. Moreover, such narratives often function as tools to justify hegemony and intervention. Ultimately, these positions incubate and entrench xenophobia and racism, or contribute to the rearticulation of a Cold War–like climate. Within this context, intercultural dialogue is rarely promoted as a means of mutual understanding.
China’s Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) offers a framework for dialogue that merits scholarly exploration, study, and analysis. Accordingly, this research endeavour does not seek to idealize nor to oversimplify global realities. On the contrary, it aims to examine—through a critical, comparative, and interdisciplinary lens—the theoretical, cultural, and practical dimensions of this initiative».
Concluding his intervention, Professor Gouliamos emphasized:
«Ultimately, this project concerns the creation of knowledge networks that do not reproduce old divisions, but rather strengthen synergies that illuminate complex cultural issues—issues closely intertwined with the economy, aesthetics, society, the arts, and literature».
The project is interdisciplinary and cross-thematic in nature, involving more than twenty scholars and researchers from academic institutions across six countries.
