Transparency and Controls at the Forefront of Meeting Between Fytiris and Auditor General

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, met with the Auditor General of the Republic, Andreas Papakostantinou, to discuss issues of transparency and controls. The meeting took place within the framework of institutional cooperation between the Ministry and the Audit Office. The discussions focused on the control of tender procedures, the improvement of internal control mechanisms, and the strengthening of the smooth functioning of the Ministry's Services. Particular emphasis was placed on the need to ensure transparency and sound financial management in ongoing or planned projects. In addition, issues relating to the Cyprus Police and the Prison Department were discussed, with the aim of upgrading control and accountability mechanisms. Strengthening supervision and preventing mismanagement were also significant topics of discussion. The Minister and the Auditor General agreed that institutional cooperation between the two bodies is essential for enhancing transparency, good governance, and public confidence in the institutions of the state.
