Luxury Vehicle Arson: Businessman Released, Second Suspect Remains in Custody

The 49-year-old businessman who was arrested on suspicion of arson of a luxury vehicle showroom in Limassol has been released by the court, while the detention of the 28-year-old, who was found in possession of a vehicle recorded near the scene of the arson, has been extended. The investigation is focusing on the possibility of a second person being in the 28-year-old's vehicle, a resident of Nicosia, whose details investigators are trying to ascertain. Analysis of security camera footage shows the vehicle heading towards a petrol station in Nicosia and that the driver was not the 28-year-old. The 49-year-old, who sold the vehicle to a company and took it back due to rental difficulties, does not appear to be directly involved. Genetic samples were taken from the 28-year-old and evidence was seized from the vehicle for scientific examination, while he himself exercised his right to remain silent. The investigation continues to determine the exact identity of the perpetrator and their motives.
