Hope expressed by Olguin for progress on Confidence Building Measures following meeting with Erhurman

The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Olguin, expressed hope for progress in talks regarding Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) during tomorrow's trilateral meeting. This statement was made after a meeting with the T/C leader, Tufan Erhurman, in the occupied territories. Olguin described the meeting with Erhurman as good and preparatory for the trilateral, which is expected to focus on the concerns of both sides regarding the resumption of negotiations. A successful outcome of the trilateral and progress on CBMs are considered crucial for promoting trust and achieving a sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue.
