Audit Office: Irregularities in Contracts of the Agricultural Research Institute

The Audit Office has found irregularities and weaknesses in the public procurement procedures of the Agricultural Research Institute (ARI). The report states that the ARI did not adequately apply public procurement legislation, which may have led to the conclusion of contracts at higher prices due to a lack of competition. Specifically, problems were identified in the procurement procedures for high-cost materials for specialized machinery, as well as the systematic fragmentation of contracts and limited participation of interested parties. The Audit Office warns that any conviction of the ARI could lead to a loss of funding from European funds. The report focuses on a specific case of a request to purchase materials worth €2.4 million through negotiation without prior publication, where there was insufficient documentation to support the choice of this procedure.
