Evacuations in the Alps Due to Heavy Snowfall – Tourists Urged to Leave

Heavy snowfall is causing evacuations and road closures in the Italian and Swiss Alps, endangering tourists and residents. Authorities are urging visitors to leave dangerous areas immediately due to the increased risk of avalanches. In Piedmont, Italy, snowfall reached 40 centimeters, leading to the evacuation of the town of Rochemolles. Meteorologist Andrea Vuolo warns of the danger in the Gran Vallone valley, comparing the conditions to the severe avalanche of 2018. A similar situation is unfolding in Switzerland, where 50 people have been evacuated as a precaution. Strong winds, with gusts up to 189 km/h, are exacerbating the situation. Two skiers have died near the Italy-France-Switzerland border, and red warnings have been issued for avalanche risk.
