State Guarantees €1.25 Billion in Loans – Loans are Being Serviced Regularly

The state has acted as guarantor for loans to public organizations amounting to €1.25 billion, a decrease of 9.5% compared to 2024. These loans are being serviced regularly. The 2025 fiscal report states that the decrease is due to the repayment of loans to various organizations, such as the Sewerage Boards and the EAC. The largest category of loans with state guarantees concerns public law organizations, with the balance amounting to €0.63 billion. The report highlights that these loans finance major infrastructure projects, co-financed by European organizations. In addition, loans of €0.29 billion have been granted to private companies to support entrepreneurship.
