Ο κοινός στόχος για ουσιαστική πρόοδο στο Κυπριακό πριν από τη λήξη της θητείας του ΓΓ του ΟΗΕ Αντόνιο Γκουτέρες, επιβεβαιώθηκε κατά τη συνάντηση που είχε την Τετάρτη στις Βρυξέλλες με τον κ. Γκουτέρες, δήλωσε ο Πρόεδρος της Δημοκρατίας Νίκος Χριστοδουλίδης αμέσως μετά τη συνάντηση.
Σε δηλώσεις του, ο Πρόεδρος Χριστοδουλίδης είπε πως είχε μια πολύ ουσιαστική και πολύ παραγωγική συζήτηση με τον κ. Γκουτέρες.
«Χαίρομαι πραγματικά γιατί έχουμε κοινό στόχο με τον Γενικό Γραμματέα και ο στόχος αφορά την ουσία του Κυπριακού, εκεί είναι η επικέντρωσή μας. Χαίρομαι επίσης γιατί και ο ίδιος ασπάζεται την ίδια άποψη, για την ανάγκη να υπάρξει ουσιαστική πρόοδος πριν την ολοκλήρωση της θητείας του, δηλαδή πριν το τέλος του έτους», είπε ο Πρόεδρος Χριστοδουλίδης.
