The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with the President of PASOK/Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, at the Presidential Palace. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of the relationship between Cyprus and Greece, especially after recent events, and expressed hope for de-escalation in the region through international initiatives. He highlighted Cyprus's desire to be part of the solution, not the problem. Mr. Androulakis expressed his satisfaction with the solidarity shown by the European Union towards Cyprus, emphasizing that no member state should participate in the war and that the EU should show support to any country that requests it. He stressed the need for strong diplomatic initiatives for peace in the Middle East and highlighted that Cyprus's accession to the EU with the Cyprus issue unresolved was a major national achievement. Both leaders agreed on the need for continued dialogue and cooperation.
