The Acting Mayor of Paphos has issued clear instructions to the heads of the Municipality's departments to promptly respond to any request from the Audit Office for documents and information related to the investigation concerning the suspended Mayor, Phaedon Phaedonos. Compliance is considered an obligation of the employees. The first Municipal Council meeting with its new composition is scheduled for tonight, but issues concerning the Mayor will not be discussed, focusing instead on technical and professional matters. A response to a question regarding the presence of an Audit Office team at the Town Hall was not provided. Simultaneously, the process of replacing a Municipal Councilor due to incompatibility has begun, according to the Deputy Prefect of Paphos. The councilor accepts his resignation with protest, considering it unlawful and reserving his rights. The incompatibility arose due to the simultaneous exercise of the profession of an educator. The Minister of Interior clarified that there is no distinction between permanent and contract educators regarding incompatibility. The position of the resigning councilor is expected to be taken by the next in line from the same party list. Regarding the Phaedonos case, the investigation is in full swing, and the Police will inform the public as soon as there are developments. The case file is expected to be submitted to the Legal Service within the week.
