Two Investigations Launched into the Death of a Woman Following Hysterectomy in Cyprus

The Minister of Health, Neophytos Charalambides, is awaiting the conclusion of the police investigation regarding the death of the 42-year-old woman who passed away two weeks after a hysterectomy at Larnaca General Hospital. Simultaneously, an administrative investigation has been ordered by the State Health Services Organization (SHSO) into the case. The woman's family has filed a complaint with the police, requesting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Mr. Charalambides stated that an investigation was ordered by the Ministry of Health from the outset, involving investigating officials from the SHSO. He also emphasized that the police are investigating the case following the family's complaint. The 42-year-old woman was hospitalized after undergoing a hysterectomy on January 16th and passed away two weeks later after falling into a comatose state. The family desires a full and in-depth investigation to determine the cause of her death. The investigations aim to determine if there were any omissions or errors during her hospitalization and surgical procedure that led to the tragic outcome. The case is under close scrutiny by the authorities and the public.
