Turkish Cypriots Abroad Dissatisfied with Olguin - Letter to UN Secretary-General

Turkish Cypriots abroad expressed strong dissatisfaction with the recent statements of the UN Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, regarding the Cyprus issue, arguing that they perpetuate stereotypes that contribute to the deadlock. Through a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the “Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad (ATCA)” criticized Holguin's use of the term “Republic of Cyprus” without criticism, and reiterated the demand for political equality. Furthermore, they accused the Greek Cypriot side of refusing dialogue and of actions that undermine trust, such as refusing sports meetings and legal actions regarding properties in the occupied territories. They are asking Guterres to ensure that the next attempt at resolution is based on justice, equality, and recognition.
