ATCA Expresses Discontent with Olguin's Statements - Letter to Guterres

The “Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad (ATCA)” expressed strong discontent with the recent statements of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, regarding the Cyprus issue. In a letter to Antonio Guterres, the ATCA accuses Holguin of perpetuating stereotypes that hinder the resolution of the problem. The association criticizes the use of the term “Republic of Cyprus” and insists on the need for political equality. Furthermore, it denounces obstacles to cooperation between the two communities, such as the refusal of sports meetings and legal actions regarding properties in the occupied territories. It calls on Guterres to ensure a fair and equal solution.
