Sharp Increase in Amphetamine and Methamphetamine Use in Cyprus

A study by the SCORE network, in collaboration with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), has revealed a sharp increase in the use of amphetamine and methamphetamine in cities across Cyprus in 2025. Limassol and Ayia Napa show the largest increases, with 260% and 258% respectively for amphetamine, and 287% and 115% for methamphetamine. Despite these increases, Cyprus still has lower levels of use compared to the European average, however these trends are causing concern. An increase in cocaine use was also observed in Larnaca and a decrease in Limassol, while cannabis use increased in all provinces.
