The Cypriot Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, expressed the gratitude of the Republic of Cyprus to Greece for its immediate response and the dispatch of frigates and F-16 fighter jets, creating a 'protective umbrella' due to the crisis in the region. During joint statements with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, the upgraded role of Greece and Cyprus in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean was mentioned, as well as their humanitarian and peacekeeping role. Nikos Dendias referred to bilateral defence relations, the Greek military presence in Cyprus and the situation in the Middle East, Lebanon and Iran. Cyprus's interest in purchasing the Greek anti-drone system 'Kentavros' was also discussed, with Mr. Dendias stating that a presentation of the system would be held at the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI).
