Nicolas Aemiliou Elected Judge at the ECHR

Nicolas Aemiliou has been elected a judge at the European Court of Human Rights for Cyprus by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. His term will be nine years and will begin within three months. Mr. Aemiliou has extensive legal experience and has served in various important positions, including Plenipotentiary Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the European Union and the United Nations, as well as Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most recently, he was appointed Advocate General to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
