Court Rejects Police Association's Appeal Against Chief's Shift Decision

The Administrative Court has dismissed an application by the Cyprus Police Association (CPA) to overturn the Chief of Police's decision regarding the working hours of police officers working a 12x36 shift system. The court ruled that it was not convinced of the possibility of challenging the decision through a Writ of Mandamus, while leaving open the possibility of appealing to the Court itself. Furthermore, the court questioned the CPA's standing to legally pursue the case, given that the decision does not affect all its members and other police officers have already appealed to the court through other trade unions. There is no previous court decision overturning a similar decision by the Chief of Police.
