Disagreements over Teacher Evaluation Criteria – Grading Scale at the Forefront

There are disagreements regarding the teacher evaluation criteria submitted to Parliament by the Ministry of Education. Trade unions express concerns about subjectivity in grading due to the range of the evaluation scale (0-10), proposing a scale of 1-4. The Ministry of Education disagrees, arguing that the wider range prevents the leveling of grades. Issues such as the objectivity of the criteria and the training of principals were also discussed. The Ministry has established a monitoring committee for the evaluation and seeks approval of the regulations to implement the evaluation from September.
